Junior Giants is a free, noncompetitive, coed baseball program for underserved youth ages 7-13. Working together with local agencies, families and volunteers, Junior Giants reaches into communities and offers youth a chance to learn the basics of baseball during the summer while also discovering the importance of self-esteem and respect.
The Concord Junior Giants league started four years ago as a new project sponsored by Monument Impact as an opportunity to bring knowledge and love of baseball to our children and community while promoting a healthy lifestyle, where free or low-cost physical activity is available for all youth.
Junior Giants is more than playing baseball: it is about making new friends, building confidence, working as a team, being a leader and modeling integrity and respect. These are the core developmental elements the league promotes. The program also focuses on daily reading, striking out bullying and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
As part of this healthy lifestyle the Concord Junior Giants league introduced a Zero Tolerance Zone where parents and children say NO TO SODA , other sugary drinks, and unhealthy snacks during practices and games. We were the first league to start this practice and now over 90 leagues in three states have adopted it!
The program also features the Concord Junior Giants cheerleader group! This project was introduced in collaboration with the CARES After School program, Ygnacio Valley High School Cheerleader team, Mr. Allyn Monzon, and Paloma Barajas from Carondolet High School.
With your help and support we are keeping our children off the streets during the summer, exercising while playing baseball, reading and learning. You are helping them to envision a brighter and promising future where community members and residents matter.
