Yuliya’s Journey in the US

Yuliya arrived in the United States from Ukraine on February 1, 2023, carrying hope for a safer and brighter future for her family. Like for many who migrate, starting over in a new country was not easy. She started from zero, not even able to speak a full sentence in English, had no U.S. work experience, and was adjusting to an entirely new environment while caring for her family.
She was referred to Monument Impact through the CalWORKs, where she was welcomed into a supportive program focused on both immediate needs and long-term stability. She began English classes, received financial coaching, and participated in job readiness support.
From the beginning, Yuliya demonstrated strong motivation and consistency. Yuliya worked incredibly hard.

She practiced English every day, attended classes consistently, and remained committed even during difficult moments.
In November 2025, Yuliya landed a temporary assignment at Macy’s as a Retail Receiving Support Associate. Her dedication, reliability, and positive attitude stood out during those two months with Macy’s management recognized her performance and offered her a permanent position.
Today, Yuliya proudly works at Macy’s, averaging 25 hours per week. Her part-time schedule allows her to balance work with caring for her children, including dropping them off and picking them up from school, something that is deeply important to her as a devoted mother.
Yuliya’s journey is a powerful reminder that with determination, family support, and access to the right community resources, new beginnings are possible. She is rebuilding her life step by step, showing her children what resilience truly looks like.
Her success was not just about finding a job. It is about gaining confidence, stability, and hope in a new home.
We are proud to support her journey and grateful for the opportunity to be part of her success.
