Judith Ortiz
Judith Ortiz began her tenure as Monument Impact’s Executive Director in August 2022. She served ten years as Executive Director with Wahupa Educational Services, a San Diego-based nonprofit serving low-income, first-generation, and/or under-represented students to successfully complete a high school education and obtain a college degree. Judith grew the budget from $1 million to $2 million during her tenure. She has worked extensively with immigrant and Latinx communities and, most recently, served as a program consultant with the University of California, San Diego, supporting the organization with TRIO program evaluation.
When Judith was born, she lived in Richmond, but after two months, she left for Mexico with her family to her parents’ hometown in Guanajuato, Mexico, because her parents were deported. At age four, she returned with her family to Richmond, where she attended K-12 schools, local community college, and University, earning her Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, East Bay. Judith is an avid knitter, a long-time catechism teacher, and enjoys going on walks with her husband, two daughters, and dog, Sofia.
